Fall 2009 Description for ENGL 341

This course will offer an in-depth study of selected
women's writing, organized by period, genre or theme. In
any particular semester, the course might focus, for
example, on 18th century women writers, contemporary women
poets or marriage in women's literature. The texts will be
approached with regard to questions of canon formation,
women's history and cultural constructions of gender.
Credit may be earned more than once under this number for
different emphases. This course fulfills the Human
Diversity requirement in the core curriculum.
Prerequisites: ENGL 111 and 112 or 190
