Education:
B.A., M.A., University of Iowa

Scholarship and service:
An award-winning video producer, Professor Scully has produced and directed hundreds of video programs in the studio and in the field: commercials, corporate, public relations, public affairs and documentaries.  For many years, he has included service-learning projects in his video production courses to teach students to work with a client and to give back to the community. Trips to Kenya with Children's HeartLink and to Australia have resulted in documentaries that teach students about their discipline as they learn about a different culture.

In April 2007, Professor Scully received the UST Global Citizenship Award.  The award recognizes members of the UST community whose personal or professional work brings the concept of global citizenship to their departments, classrooms, residence halls or student clubs.  Professor Scully was honored for his classroom and "Campus Scope" work, which helps students "create meaningful and lasting works that educate others in the community, both on and off campus."  His award nomination also noted the work producing "several incredible videos with an intercultural focus, such as 'Integrating Cultures,' which focuses on Somalis in Australia and Minnesota" and his leadership in service learning projects that "benefit nonprofit organizations and provide in-depth experience for his students."

At UST:

Professor Scully joined UST in 1990.  When not on sabbatical leave, he is advisor to the "Campus Scope" TV news magazine.
