Jim Stokman, a senior chemistry major, was awarded the "Best in Session" award for his oral presentation at the 2009 Winchell Symposium on Undergraduate Research. Stokman, working in the research group of Tom Ippoliti, gave a talk entitled "Synthesis of an Isothiazole Antimicrobial". This is the second consecutive year that a talk by a UST student has been judged the best chemistry paper in this symposium. Last year, Josh Speros, who also worked with Ippoliti, won the award.
