Jo is Program Coordinator for online program options in the Special Education programs. Jo teaches classes and supervises clinical practice candidates in the area of developmental disabilities; this is informed by her experiences as a special education teacher and training (M.A. in Educational Psychology concentrated on reflective practice; B.S in Behavioral Disabilities included licenses in the areas of ECSE as well as students with mild, moderate and severe disabilities) and over twenty-five years of work in the field of education.

Jo is passionate about welcoming, equity, conflict resolution, and access to relevant learning experiences for all people, all ages, in all domains of our lives!  Jo’s five years of service on the national Jane Addams Children’s Book Award committee fuels her creativity and commitment to social justice education which she continues in professional service in P-12 schools. Jo and classroom teachers co-create lessons that attend to social-emotional learning, social studies and language arts goals, and “advance the common good” (part of the UST mission statement and one of Jo’s songs!).
