The recently completed 2012-13 school was very successful for the administrative licensure program at the University of St. Thomas. One of the highlights was in November of 2012, when accreditation review teams from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Minnesota Board of School Administrators (BOSA). Their review teams spent two full days on campus, meeting with faculty and students associated with the licensure program, resulting in UST maintaining its status as an Approved and Accredited Program for training Superintendents, Principals, Special Education Directors and Community Education Directors in the State of Minnesota.
The final report from the Minnesota Board of School Administrators contained many favorable comments about the UST Licensure program, as noted in their final report,
“The evidence and testimony provided by UST faculty, students, program graduates and advisory board members indicated that the UST Education Leadership program is a strong, rigorous program for all licensure areas. UST’s program is well-established and held in high regard by current and past students. The faculty brings a wealth of practical experience and knowledge of educational pedagogy and leadership. The testimony affirmed that there is a strong alignment between the licensure program and the vision and mission of the University.”
I want to thank all of the current and former students and faculty who helped in the accreditation process, in particular those who attended focus group sessions with the Site Review Teams this past November. This accreditation process means our licensure program will be fully accredited through the 2016-17 school year.
