Mirja Hanson

Adjunct Professor Organizational Development and Planning

Dr. Mirja Hanson is an Adjunct Professor in the Public Safety and Law Enforcement Leadership program in the College of Education, Leadership and Counseling at the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Hanson received her EdD from the University of St. Thomas in 2001. She received her MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and her BA from Metropolitan State University in Minnesota.

Dr. Hanson has been teaching at St. Thomas for more than 10 years and has almost 40 years of experience in community and organization management consulting and facilitation. She has had more than 200 clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, including the United Nations, U.S. House of Representatives, 3M, U.S. Steel, Habitat for Humanity and 25 state agencies in the Midwest, including several Governors’ Cabinets.

Dr. Hanson volunteers in the local and global community, including service with the Minnesota Japan America Society, International Association of Facilitators and Simpson Housing Services. In 2001, she was appointed to a five-year term as the Honorary Consul General at Minneapolis by the Government of Japan.
