Catholic Studies is proud to sponsor a variety of speakers and events each semester, allowing students to discuss and think more deeply about how Catholicism has shaped and informed society and how it continues to do so.
Recent Speakers have included:
Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev, Sourozh Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in Great Britain
Mary Beth Bonacci, author and nationally recognized speaker on issues of sexuality and chastity
Rev. John Kavanaugh, S.J., St. Louis University
Michael Medved, media critic and nationally recognized author
Cathleen Cleaver Ruse, Director of Pro-life Activities for the USCCB
James Towey, director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
George Weigel, Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center
There are also more informal events, such as the Engaging Truth Series, in which several faculty members participate in a panel discussion and Q&A session to explore the Catholic perspective on issues and topics ranging from contemporary literature to political elections to marriage and dating.
In addition, the Center for Catholic Studies hosts annual speakers, scholars and artists through the Habiger Endowment.
More information about current events and speakers can be found at the Center for Catholic Studies News & Events page.
