Faculty Summer Seminar 2002:
Catholic Higher Education in the 20th Century

The goal of the seminar was to provide faculty a better understanding of American Catholic higher education by exploring the pattern of its historical growth and by noting how it has been affected by broader movements in the Catholic Church, in higher education, and in society more generally. Participants also were able to inquire how Catholic higher education's past might be related to its present situation and future prospects.
Professor Gleason is also author of Contending with Modernity: Catholic Higher Education in the Twentieth Century (Oxford, 1995).
