Music Ministry

The Liturgical Choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. Mass.

Music ministry supports and leads community worship by engaging hearts, minds and bodies in active participation. The Liturgical Choir and Handbell Choir combine the joy of liturgical music with a commitment to high performance standards of the Music Department and are offered for academic course credit. Vocalists, pianists, organists, guitarists, percussionists and every type of band and orchestral instrument are needed for Sunday masses as well as for special liturgies and ecumenical services. Handbell Choir is a one credit Music Department ensemble (rehearsal arranged) which serves music ministry once per month in the chapel. Handbell Choir performs at the Christmas concert, and gives an annual spring concert in the chapel. For more information, contact Jennifer Cadwell, 612-408-9105 or by email.

The Liturgical Choir tours internationally or nationally each year

Liturgical Choir is a 65-voice SATB choral ensemble co-sponsored by the Music Department (MUSN 143, 1 credit) and Campus Ministry that sings for Sunday Eucharist and special liturgical celebrations and concerts. Membership is by audition and open to graduate and undergraduate students of all faiths and cultural backgrounds. Academic credit is offered toward fulfilling the Fine Arts requirements, and is offered free of charge. Rehearsals are Tuesday/Thursday 1:30-3:00 pm.

The Choir has made 9 international pilgrimage concert tours including the honor of singing at Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at Saint Peter's Basilica in 1987, 1997, and 2007.  Other destinations have included Ireland, Eastern and Western Europe, Israel and the Holy Land and throughout the United States. 

The annual weekend fall retreat at the Gainey Conference Center is one of the choir’s many activities which explore and express our commitment to the importance of spiritual, service and social aspects of college life.
