Faith Formation

Whether you are a life-long Catholic or someone new to the Catholic Tradition, faith formation can enrich your understanding of the faith and enable you to enter more deeply into the life of faith.

What is Faith Formation?

As we grow in our faith we often desire to know more and to understand the ways and life of faith. We seek to explore more deeply who God is, the mission of the Church, and the essence of faith. To assist persons seeking meaning and understanding of their faith, Campus Ministry coordinates a variety of events and programs for people to grow in understanding and appreciation of their faith. In these programs, members of our community are able to reflect, discuss, and explore the Church's teaching and articulation of the tradition.

Faith Formation Programs

Among the many opportunities offered are the following:

    • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): RCIA is a program for undergraduate students who have not been baptized in the Christian Church or who may not have participated in a community of faith and who are interested in becoming an active participating member of the Catholic Church. While there is no "set" time frame for this journey, many participants enter the program in the fall and journey together throughout the year and are received fully into the Church during the Easter Season. However, there is no expectation of participants to follow a particular schedule. Rather, each person discerns with the RCIA sponsors their readiness to enter fully into the life of the Church. For more information about the RCIA process, please contact Christine Griffith.
    • Confirmation Program: The Confirmation program is an opportunity for those Catholics and other Christians who have not been fully received into the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation to be initiated. A less extensive program than the RCIA, this program seeks to help individuals as they seek to participate in the life of the Church more fully. For more information about Confirmation preparation, please contact Christine Griffith.
    • Scripture Study: An essential practice of every Christian is the study of the Word of God. At Saint Thomas a variety of scripture study groupsare available for individuals to explore and pray the Word of God.

If you are interested in participating in any of the above programs, or those promoted on the current opportunities page, please contact Christine Griffith for more information.
