Do you want to be involved at the
Auditions for the 2008-2009 UST Dance Team have been set for April 7th through the 13th. Please read the information below for details:
* Team members are required to re-audition every season.
* There is no pre-determined number of team members to be chosen each
year.
* Auditions will only take place in the Spring. There sill be no Fall
auditions because the team must prepare for camp and football games
before classes begin.
* Candidates who are unable to attend live auditions in April may submit a
videotape, however live auditions are preferred. (See “videotape”
information below)
* Incoming students must be accepted as full-time students for the Fall
semester at UST, or have an active application submitted to the
admissions department by the first date of auditions. All names are
screened through admissions, so failure to meet this requirement will
require the student to resign from auditions.

All sessions will be held in the third floor gymnasium of O’Shaughnessy on the
General Requirements
Candidates must bring the following to the first day of auditions:
1. Individual photo – a current head shot or full body shot. Can be dance related
or in street clothes.
2. Dance Resume – please list your dance history and accomplishments
Although it is not absolutely required to have all the skills mastered, it is important dancers have the knowledge and potential to execute them.
* Pirouettes – double/triple on both left and right sides
* A la seconde and fouette turns
* Battement pirouette (aka: needle turn, leg hold turn)
* Leaps – grand jete, calypso, second/open
* Jumps – toe touch, pitch, pike
With all skills, candidates will be evaluated on high level of overall flexibility, extension, control and body awareness. Along with individually performed skills, each candidate will be required to execute three (3) across the floor combinations learned at auditions.
Routines will be taught on day 1 (jazz) and day 2 (hip hop) of auditions. Each is approximately one minute in length. Candidates will perform in small and large groups, and will be evaluated on conformity to style, attention to detail, ability to quickly learn material, performance, execution, etc.

1. Short introduction stating your name and a brief description of why you want to be on the St. Thomas Dance Team and why you feel you would be a valuable addition.
2. Performance of skills listed above
3. One minute jazz routine (can be self choreographed or a portion of a past routine)
4. One minute hip hop routine (can be self choreographed or a portion of a past routine).
Also send a:
* Letter of recommendation from current coach, teacher or advisor
* Dance resume
* Current photo (headshot or full body)
