The theme this year is The Power of One, the Value of All. The Power of One emphasizes the importance and responsibility that each individual has on their own leadership journey; the Value of All highlights our commitment to a diverse and inclusive culture, globalization, and one university while promoting the importance of teamwork and the benefit of working together as one community. Students who experience FLI will leave empowered by their individual abilities while understanding the importance and value of teamwork and community building.

The two day conference will include 60 1-hour break out session options, professional keynote speakers, networking opportunities with alumni, an etiquette dinner, and the chance to make connections with fellow student leaders.

At FLI students will:

  • Explore and develop skills in intercultural communication, networking and group dynamics
  • Think critically about their personal leadership styles and find opportunities to develop them
  • Work skillfully with student leaders, faculty and staff to engage in dialogue and collaborate to create intentionally inclusive environments and quality programming on campus
  • Learn resources in fiscal management, marketing, time management, event planning and other University policies and procedures to make informed decisions and create successful programs
  • Learn to articulate their leadership experience, how their roles fit within the context of the larger St. Thomas community and how they contribute to advancing the common good
