The Opus College of Business brought its theme of a Zero Waste Education to Rock the Garden 2009

Monday, June 22, 2009

With temperatures hovering near – and sometimes above – 90 F, more than 9,000 people gathered on the grounds of the Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to enjoy an innovate line-up of bands and come together as a community. As a co-sponsor of the event, the UST Opus College of Business gave away more than 150 tickets, helping to make the event one of the most well-attended ever.

The UST Opus College of Business was proud to support the Walker and the Current, and even more thrilled to represent the University of St. Thomas at this worthwhile event. Throughout the day, college staff, faculty, students and alumni greeted visitors to the Opus College of Business tent, answering questions about the university, the college and the depth of graduate business programs and courses offered. In addition, staff and students handed out more than 5,500 flashing bike lights and 300 t-shirts to the enthusiastic crowd.

What do a business school and a rock concert have in common?

Rock the Garden 2009, hosted by the Walker Art Center and 89.3 The Current, was dedicated to enlivening the culture of the Twin Cities. The University of St. Thomas has been an active supporter of Twin Cities arts, culture and entrepreneurial endeavors since its founding in 1885. The Opus College of Business continues this tradition through a variety of programs, among these the Opus Distinguished Speaker Series – bringing national and international thought-leaders to campus each year - and the Business 200 course, requiring all undergraduate business students to provide 40 hours of service to their communities.
