Vets have transcription firm growing fast

Myles Spicer, president, and Clarence Ramsey, CEO, head Eden Prairie-based Alpha Transcription. The largest medical transcription company in the upper Midwest, the company contracts with more than 20 Veteran Administration (VA) hospitals as well as U.S. Department of Defense medical facilities and regional medical centers throughout the country and overseas.

Pulling in more than $3 million in revenue a year, Alpha Transcription has grown dramatically since Spicer bought it in 2001.

At the time, the company was a small business with six employees. Spicer, a Korean War Air Force veteran, hired Ramsey, who had served in the Army’s 101st Airborne and later got an MBA at the University of St. Thomas, to help grow the operation.
