Wal-Mart seeking downtown Minneapolis spot

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is actively scouting sites in downtown Minneapolis as part of its ongoing expansion in Minnesota.
The Bentonville, Ark.-based retail giant has had talks with landlords, though no deal is imminent, said real estate sources who didn’t want to be named because Wal-Mart has not made its search publicly known.
“I think they clearly want to be in the face of Target,” said Dave Brennan, co-director of the Institute for Retailing Excellence at the University of St. Thomas.
