Many people might assume Bill Woodson’s career is the end result of years of study and jobs within the academic world. However, his background includes 25 years in corporate America and entrepreneurship.

“I didn’t have any intention of  academia being a part of my professional career as a young professional.” Woodson, born in Sarasota, Florida, and raised in Washington, D.C., received an undergraduate degree in urban studies from Brown University, and is a graduate of Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, where he received a master's in City and Regional Planning.

He worked in the public sector for three years, and in a change of course earned an M.B.A. at the University of Michigan.
