The Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal named Kim Nelson, an alumna of the Executive UST MBA, the Public Company CFO of the Year on November 18.

Nelson has only been a chief financial officer since 2007, when she joined SPS Commerce Inc. But she's already achieved one thing few other CFOs have in that time: A successful initial public offering. "I wanted to make sure it was a culture and an environment where I would have an impact," said Nelson.

SPS officially completed the IPO in April of last year, raising $49.1 million. The offering priced with in its expected range. It's been a challenge for many companies to successfully complete IPOs in recent years, due partly to the recession. Nelson credits SPS's ability to buck the trend to the company's consistent growth.
