David Brooks is 2009 Opus Distinguished Speaker

Author and columnist David Brooks will be on campus Tuesday, May 5, to meet with students and to give a public presentation as the 2009 Opus Distinguished Speaker. Brooks has been an op-ed columnist with The New York Times since Sept. 2003. He was a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly and is currently a commentator on “The Newshour with Jim Lehrer.” He is the author of Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There and On Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense. He is a frequent analyst on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and the “Diane Rehm Show.” His articles have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Forbes, the Washington Post, the TLS, Commentary, The Public Interest and many other periodicals.
Brooks’ evening presentation on May 5 is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Schulze Grand Atrium at the School of Law on the Minneapolis Campus. For more information, visit www.stthomas.edu/business/events.
