Target Launches New Marketing Program Named Cartwheel

Target launched a new online marketing program Wednesday called Cartwheel.
The online app is a collaboration between Target and social media website Facebook.
Professor David Vang from the University of St. Thomas says online marketing programs such as Cartwheel will be more common as merchants seek new, more accurate ways to reach customers.
Vang says merchants will rely less on demographic information, and instead use personal information provided by a customer or a friend of a customer, “If I have can get someone who has a Facebook page, I will assume their friends have the same interests. I find out who your friends are and I can potentially offer them deals and drive traffic to my store.”
