Minnesota Legislature: A few job-climate positives

Opposition to legislative proposals from Minnesota's business community has received plenty of attention on these pages, and at the Capitol.

But, from a better-business-climate-leads-to-more-jobs perspective, what about measures business leaders see as helpful?

The list is relatively short, they say, but it does include some positives.

Exemption from up-front sales taxes for capital purchases would eliminate a refund process, providing an example of the streamlining efforts businesses say they need from government.

With more capital to work with, and purchases made easier and less expensive, "you would expect more capital investment," John Spry, a University of St. Thomas economics professor, told us.
