Gordman's rising, Abercombie & Fitch sinking in Twin Cities retail landscape
Thursday, January 19, 2012
As the economy shifts and retail lease cycles wind down, the Twin Cities' retail landscape is both gaining and losing players. Dave Brennan, co-director of St. Thomas' Institute for Retailing Excellence, was asked to weigh in on a couple of moves. Talking to the Roseville edition of Patch.com, he described the planned opening of a Gordmans department store in Roseville's Crossroads mall as "a pretty good fit." Conversely, when asked by KARE 11 about the closure of three Twin Cities Abercrombie & Fitch stores, Brennan was blunt: "they haven't been doing well."
The KARE story also quotes Brennan advising industry-watchers to expect more "coming and going" in local retail in the near future.
