Ronald Menaker has 28 years of experience in medical group practice. Currently, Menaker is the administrator for Cardiology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Previously, he was the administrator for Psychiatry and Psychology and administrator for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine, Rochester. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, Menaker was the executive vice president of Prevea Health Services in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and an assistant director of Patient Care at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Menaker has an Ed.D. in organization development from the University of St. Thomas, an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Wisconsin and is a CPA. He is on the faculty of the Health Care UST MBA and Augsburg College teaching leadership and organization development. He has been actively involved in the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), serving on both boards of directors, and is past chair of ACMPE.

Leadership in health care provider organizations has been the primary focus of teaching and consulting engagements, especially as it involves physicians and allied health staff. Transformation leadership is of particular interest.

Description of course Leadership : CRN: 22026
This course will examine the general nature of leadership styles and practices; trends in leadership in American business; and personal leadership values of participating students. Leading will be distinguished from managing through a study of current literature on the subject and through a focus on the roles of defined business and community leaders. The course will be conducted in seminar fashion, where students will be expected to actively participate in the presentation and discussion of materials. -- Prerequisite: Standard core courses
