Dr. Sullivan has long-term experience in both academia and in executive management.
From 1977 to 2000, he acted as an adjunct faculty member at Minnesota universities including the University of St. Thomas. During this same period, he held various executive level financial positions, culminating in his appointment for fifteen years as CFO and VP of Business Affairs/Treasurer at UST. Sullivan was a key member of the administrative team building UST into the largest private university between Chicago and California.
From 2000 until 2010, Sullivan has been an associate professor of finance in the Opus College of Business as well as the chief investment officer (CIO) of UST. As CIO, he was responsible for the investment of institutional funds approaching $500M and the institutional bond portfolio of almost $300M.
Sullivan has taught more than 75 graduate school courses over the past 33 years. Currently, his academic interests are investments, corporate finance and global financial management. Sullivan has taught courses or lectured in fourteen countries, including Russia and China.
Sullivan is a frequent presenter at international and national conferences in the topics of investments and global finance. He has served on the national boards of professional associations. He serves as a member of foundation and endowment boards, providing financial management and investment advice. As the president of Indigo Consulting, Inc., Sullivan provides strategic investment education to a number of high-net worth clients and their families.
Sullivan, a native of Boston, was graduated from Boston College High School, St. John’s University (Minnesota) and the University of Minnesota (Ph. D. in education finance).more
