Kim Ragan Sovell

Adjunct Faculty : Marketing Department

Kim Ragan Sovell graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1986 with a B.B.A. in marketing. After graduation, she was hired by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and moved to Tucson, Arizona. Kim completed her M.B.A. in Tucson while working as a pharmaceutical representative for Pfizer. In 1989, Bristol-Myers Squibb hired her as a hospital representative. Within the year she was promoted to associate advertising manager in the marketing department. She continued her career with the marketing department as an assistant to the product manager for the HIV division.

Kim stepped away from pharmaceutical marketing and began a new career teaching. From 2000-2007, Kim taught in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department of Wichita State University in the W. Frank Barton School of Business. While teaching at WSU, she also launched two companies: a property management company, Sienna Properties LLC, and a marketing consulting firm, Innovation Marketing LLC. WSU honored Kim with Adjunct Faculty of the Year nominations each year with the Adjunct of the Year award in 2004.

Her family relocated to her husband's home state of Minnesota in the fall of 2007. She began teaching in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department of the Opus College of Business in fall 2008. She has experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate levels of Advertising and Promotion, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Research, and Retailing and Principles of Marketing. Kim also advises a few select clients, nonprofit and for profit, in marketing communications. She also volunteers her time as the Marketing Communications Coordinator for Community Thread in Stillwater, Minnesota.
