Getting Started

The Admissions Office and our team have compiled the following next steps to ensure that your transition is as smooth and fruitful as possible.

Step 1 - Complete the intent to enroll form

The completion of this form initiates the activation of your student account. Use the UST ID number included in your official acceptance letter to complete this form.

Your program advisor will contact you by email with your student account information once the intent to enroll form has been processed.

Step 2 - Set up student accounts

Activate your UST e-mail account

Your UST email account serves as the primary way that UST faculty, programs staff and fellow students will communicate with one another. It is your responsibility to activate and use it. Use your 9-digit UST ID number to activate your UST email account.

To access your email:

  • Go to the St. Thomas website
  • Click on "Tools" located on the top right corner
  • Click on "Email"

The Outlook WebApp allows members of the St. Thomas community with a UST email account to access their mail from any location with an internet connected web browser. OWA is the most common way St. Thomas students access their email from on or off campus.

Many students prefer to forward their UST email to a different email account that they check on a regular basis.  In the Ooulook WebApp FAQ, you will find the detailed step by step instructions on how to auto-forward emails from your UST account to another email account.


Activate your Murphy Online account

The Murphy Online system provides access to a variety of information.  You can access your UST eBill account (view bill and make payments), forms, personal information, financial aid, grades and unofficial transcripts for employer reimbursement.

Instructions on how to log on to Murphy Online:

  • Go to the St. Thomas website
  • Click on "Tools" located on the top right corner
  • Click on "MURPHY Online"
  • Click "Login to the Murphy Online secured area"
  • Enter your UST username and password

Now you can log on to Murphy Online to view and manage your UST eBill and  access the two required health forms under the Student Services tab.

Step 3 - Complete required forms

Student Payment Agreement

Choose a tuition payment option with the Business Office - click on "For Students" to read about the 2 payments options. This form must be filled out before you can be registered for your second semester. The Student Payment Agreement and Disclosure Statement is a legal document required for all students to attend classes at St. Thomas. Extended and End of Term payment options are offered. The End of Term Plan (employers must pay at least 50% of tuition) must be downloaded and faxed to the Business Office at (651) 962-6630 for verification.   

The Extended Plan Student Payment Agreement form can be found and submitted electronically through Murphy Online:

  • Open up "Tools" at the top of the page
  • Click "Login to the Murphy Online secured area" and sign in
  • Go to "Student Services" tab
  • Click on "Student Account"
  • Choose "Payment Agreement Plan"

Health Insurance

Proof of Health Insurance forms are only available once students have been formally registered for classes. After you have been registered, you will be able to fill out and submit the proof of health insurance form under the Student Services tab in Murphy Online. This information needs to be submitted before the end of your first session or you cannot be registered for courses in the next semester.  

You can access the forms through the Health Services website or on Murphy Online:

  • Open up "Tools" at the top of the page
  • Click "Login to the Murphy Online secured area" and Sign In
  • Go to "Student Services" tab
  • Open "Student Health Menu" located at the bottom
  • Complete the Student Health Insurance form
