Develop Your Leadership Style and Drive Change

Executive MBA Academic Experience

Learn, Network and Grow as a Leader

Build the business acumen and leadership skills you need to take the next step in your career with the comprehensive Executive MBA program. This 21-month program combines interactive online coursework and instruction with once-a-month on-campus classes. You’ll also receive personal coaching from our experienced faculty throughout the degree program.

Develop strong relationships and add to your professional network as you experience the cohort learning approach, taking classes and participating in group projects throughout your degree program with the same group of 25-30 executives. Concentrated, face-to-face experiences with faculty and fellow students introduce each course and provide opportunities for:

  • Interactive group exercises
  • Case studies
  • Guest speakers
  • Professional development
  • Exploring today’s most important business challenges
Once per month, you’ll spend a weekend attending classes on our Minneapolis campus. Typically, classes are held Friday from 8 am – 8pm, and Saturday from 8 am – 5 pm. In between these monthly on-campus residencies, expect to spend 15 to 20 hours per week on class activities, which include activities, discussion boards and group collaboration.

Cohort Learning Experience

As part of a 25-30 student cohort, you’ll form strong connections with the same group of business leaders as you move together through the program. You and your peers will draw upon your diverse experiences to provide meaningful examples and real-life case studies to the course dialogue and team projects. Your cohort members will be a valuable network upon the completion of your program, as well.

On-campus Residency

To kick off the Executive MBA program, you’ll attend a four-day residency on the St. Thomas Minneapolis campus. During the residency, you will:

  • Meet your faculty and St. Thomas staff
  • Get to know your cohort—25-30 peers that will work with you to complete your degree
  • Start working with your executive coach

Applied Learning

Tackle real-world business challenges with your cohort and apply the principles you learn in class to issues from your organization or other students’ workplaces. You’ll take part in hands-on learning experiences, participate in group projects, examine current case studies and hear from a variety of guest speakers.

International Residency

Travel with your cohort to see emerging and established economies in another country first-hand. You’ll study how business decisions are affected by a diverse set of cultural, societal, economic and political factors and see how business works in different markets through the International Residency, a 7- to 10-day international trip that visits multinational and local companies and organizations.
