Board Leadership Summit – Coming Fall 2008

Exclusive board education opportunity! Together with your fellow board members and leadership staff, explore the power of collective board work through cutting-edge, expert led seminars.

The Board Leadership Summit is the most cohesive opportunity for your board to learn, to network, to build team, to reflect, and to retreat together.

By serving on a nonprofit board you provide stewardship in fundraising, financial oversight, legal issues, and mission effectiveness. The Board Leadership Summit will equip you with the tools you need to build capacity, results, and endurance for your organization.

The Center for Nonprofit Management designed this one-day Summit exclusively for current nonprofit board members and organizational leaders. Registrations may be made by organization or by individual. Organizational registrations will allow for several members to attend the Summit at an exceptional value. Board members and leadership staff may choose to attend the entire Board Leadership Summit or participate only in specific, relevant sessions. We encourage sending a team member to each session of the Summit.

Board self evaluation and organization assessment templates will also be included in each summit binder.

Fundraising

Fundraising is vital to the success of any nonprofit organization. The Center for Business Excellence believes that all fundraising strategies must be tied to the organization’s mission and purpose. Developed by the University of St. Thomas Center for Nonprofit Management, our fundraising programs focus on how to find and approach constituents for funding, fundraising skills and methods, and how to budget and collect data for grant writing purposes.

Fundraising Certificate

The Fundraising/Fund Development Certificate Series examines fundraising methods needed to maintain stable organizations. This series will focus on how to find and approach constituents for funding, fundraising skills and methods, and how to budget and collect data for grant writing purposes.

Sixty-three (63) hours of core requirements must be met to receive a certificate of completion. There are 10 classes offered in nine full-day sessions. All sessions may be taken individually or as part of the series. The certificate series will be offered once in the fall and once in the spring.

Upon completion of the Fundraising/Fund Development Certificate Series, you will receive a one year introductory membership to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) national and local chapters. This provides you with access to a network of colleagues locally and nationally, information libraries and resource centers and conferences, seminars, and monthly meeting. With your AFP membership, you will receive a chapter newsletter, Advanced Philanthropy magazine, and AFP news and professional postings.
