Technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter and LinkedIn are leveraging "NoSQL databases," a new generation of software ideal for unraveling "Big Data" problems and opportunities. Dan McCreary, author of Making Sense of NoSQL, will describe these new database designs and highlight examples of local firms starting to create new business opportunities with these innovative systems and the immense data sets now available.

Dan McCreary is a local author, consultant and technology evangelist who focuses on helping firms take advantage of modern data management technologies. He’s worked at Bell Labs and Steve Job's NeXT Computer, and has founded his own consulting firm of over 75 people. McCreary’s specialties include topics such as high performance computing, programming languages, databases and standards. He is co-founder of the "NoSQL Now!" conference and co-author of the book Making Sense of NoSQL (Manning Publications).
