The Opus College of Business winds up its Intersections series with a conversation between Roberta Bonoff, CEO and president of Creative Kidstuff/ Greater Good Kids, and Dave Brennan, Ph.D., professor of Marketing at the Opus College of Business.

Roberta Bonoff

Roberta Bonoff has an extensive background in retail and toy manufacturing including running both soft and hard goods retail, teaching retail at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota, and serving as vice president of sales for two toy manufacturers.

In her role as president and CEO, Bonoff oversees the day-to-day operations of Creative Kidstuff and Sensational Beginnings as each area of the company reports directly to her. She instigates and is in charge of long-term strategic planning, creates and implements the marketing plan, and oversees strategic partnerships. She also serves as vice president at Temple Israel in Minneapolis  and on the MNRA Board, the University of Minnesota Advisory Board, and the JFCS Entrepreneurial Advisory Board.

Dave Brennan, Ph.D.

Professor of Marketing

Dave Brennan has 12 years of business experience at Target Corp., General Tire, and The Travelers, as well as 33 years of teaching experience at Minnesota State-Mankato, Kent State, Bemidji State, the University of Minnesota, and the University of St. Thomas. He is co-director, along with Lynn Olsen, formerly a vice president at SUPERVALU, of the Institute for Retailing Excellence at St. Thomas.

An active researcher, consultant and media interviewee in the areas of marketing and business planning for retailers, suppliers and cities, he focuses on discounting, especially Walmart and Target; shopping centers, especially the Mall of America; retail industry structure and retail consumer behavior. Annually, Brennan – along with Opus College of Business faculty members Lorman Lundsten, John Sailors and Jon Seltzers – conducts and publishes the Holiday Spending Sentiment Survey.

Brennan earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences and his master’s degree in geography from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He holds a Ph.D. in geography from Kent State University.
