25th Annual Entrepreneur Awards Ceremony

The 2014 Entrepreneur Awards will be held in the Schulze Grand Atrium of the University of St. Thomas School of Law. This year’s awards recognize the following individuals and organizations for their contributions to innovation and excellence:

John F. Cade Award

Mr. Michael L. Reger ’98, ’00 M.B.A.
Chairman, CEO
Northern Oil & Gas, Inc.

Michael Reger began working in the oil and gas leasing business for his family’s company, Reger Oil, as an oil and gas Landman until co-founding Northern Oil and Gas, Inc., in 2006. Now its chairman and CEO, Reger also serves as president of the Michael and Brittany Reger Family Foundation. Reger was named one of Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journals “40 Under 40” in 2008 and in 2013 was listed 13th on Forbes’ “America’s Most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under” list.

Mr. Christopher D. Heim ’86, ’97 M.B.A.

2ndWave Software

Chris Heim has a specialty of growing software companies. He was CEO of HighJump Software for 10 years and grew the business from $8 million to $80 million of revenue. He then became CEO of Amcom and increased its revenue from $11 million to $55 million over a five year period. Now CEO of 2ndWave Software, Heim is known in the Twin Cities as an influential serial software entrepreneur. Along with the many awards his businesses have received, in 2003 Heim was selected as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and named one of the “40 Under 40” from Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

Coughlan Family

Coughlan Companies, Inc. is a fourth generation family-owned business run by brothers Bob and Jim Coughlan. The family’s original business, Mankato Kasota Stone, started in 1883. The limestone quarry provided the iconic stone that gives St. Thomas buildings their signature look. Over the decades, the family diversified within the financial, manufacturing and publishing industries. After closing the quarry in 2013, the Coughlans current companies include Capstone and Jordan Sands. In 2012, Coughlan Companies won statewide awards for its generous philanthropic initiatives and work promoting the health and well-being of employees.
