The Relevance of a Health Care Focus

Health care is a business--a very special business.  The Health Care UST MBA core curriculum is complemented by health care-related electives, case studies, and course dialogue.  You'll be able to immediately take knowledge from your courses and put it to work in your own organization.  Class projects are directly related to your current organizational objectives.

Your cohort colleagues provide new perspectives and expertise from all aspects of health care, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of health care from a systemic perspective.  Your cohort will also become a life-long professional network of colleagues outside of your current organization and specialty area.

The Health Care UST MBA is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Management Education (CAHME).  Our faculty combines exceptional educational credentials with professional experience drawn from leading health care organizations.

The Language of Business

"Coming from a clinical background, it’s important for me to learn the “language” of business.  Already, my classes are helping to increase my ability to articulate the business argument of new initiatives and to be “bi-lingual” in bridging the gap between clinicians and business people."

Paul Hansen, RN, Manager of Interventional Cardiology, Regions Hospital, Class of 2009.

MBA Provides Opportunities and Flexibility

“Succession is a critical issue in healthcare.  Industry data shows that 40-50% of current healthcare CEO’s will be retiring in the next 10 years. Healthcare needs well-trained people to step up and fill these leadership roles.  An MBA provides the most opportunity for upward movement and flexibility in your career path.”

Margaret Perryman, CEO, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare

Seek Change, Accept a Challenge

“Many leaders in healthcare are resistant to change.  Pursuing an MBA degree shows you’re seeking change and are willing to accept a challenge.  An MBA will give you the skills to develop business strategy and an understanding of marketing, finance, and the other tools of business.  Learning in a cohort will develop your teamwork skills and amplifies the learning experience.”

Dr. Terry Pladson, CEO, CentraCare Health System, Class of 1998
