Health Care UST MBA
Distance Learning = Flexibility
The Best of Both Worlds
Working professionals can meet their specific educational goals and develop an influential lifelong network while balancing a full-time career and other personal commitments. This is accomplished through an integrative approach that balances two powerful learning perspectives.
On-Campus Sessions
Two three-day sessions on our Minneapolis campus held every six months provide concentrated, face-to-face work with faculty and fellow students, building strong relationships and enhancing the entire learning experience. On-campus sessions introduce each course and provide opportunities for interactive group exercises, case studies, guest speakers and special programs that focus on professional development and current hot topics in health care.
The Mobile Classroom: Online Coursework, Interactive Meetings and iPads
Between campus visits, all coursework and class meetings are conducted online. This includes class lectures, assignments, exams, group work and presentations. There are no set class times, so you can accomplish your coursework according to your own schedule - nights or weekends, between patients, meetings and family events - whatever works for you. Faculty use live meeting software throughout their courses to provide opportunities for direct interaction and group discussion. If you cannot participate in these meetings at the time they are scheduled, they are recorded for future review.
iPads are now included in the tuition for all incoming students. Although many students will choose to do the majority of their coursework and communications using a PC or laptop, we are interested in the iPad's ability to contribute to the collaborative nature of learning and to the executive-style service and flexibility required by working professionals. We have received especially positive feedback about the use of iPads to make effective use of the small periods of down-time students have throughout the day when full computer access is not available or not convenient. Course materials are downloaded into your library and can be accessed without internet connection--anytime, anywhere. We are excited about the additional ease of face-to-face connections using the camera function of the iPad2.
As you move through the program with your cohort, you will not be learning in isolation. The online work is done collaboratively with your cohort colleagues. This executive model allows you to not only learn from your faculty, but also from one another.
