Full-time UST MBA

Meet Margarita Noriega

"Ethics is a core value of the UST MBA program, and this value is present in every class and moderates the behavior of all students."

Since 2003 I have been an advisor in the enterprise planning unit of Ecopetrol, S.A., in Colombia. I completed a master of science degree in industrial engineering, but my job involves participating in business intelligence, strategy formulation, implementation and communication processes. I also take part in formulating projects designed to internationalize the company. For these reasons, it was important that I earn an M.B.A.

When I was studying different M.B.A. programs I learned that the UST MBA program is one that fosters diversity. Through my admission process I had great support from the admission staff and I always had all the information that I needed to make an informed decision for my life and my career. Now, as a student, I have confirmed that UST is a diverse community. I have classmates from Asia, Europe and different regions of the United States, which enriches the whole educational experience. I share my days with a very diverse group of classmates from different latitudes and backgrounds, but they all have a common goal of being better professionals and to be committed through this 21-month journey.

The UST MBA program offers invaluable courses for international students. The Communication Lab is a course that develops the ability to communicate effectively in a global business world. This course is enormously helpful for native and non-native English speakers to become global professionals.

I also chose the UST MBA because of the size and format of the program. Classes are taught in small groups, which allows true interaction between students and professors. We have the privilege of having an excellent faculty, with whom we can actually interact. Due to the small classes, professors are able to follow each student’s development and students have direct access to professors.

The program has a holistic approach to education, offering not only technical skills in business administration, but also personal and ethical elements to succeed in the business world. Ethics is a core value of the UST MBA program, and this value is present in every class and moderates the behavior of all students. Another important element is the balance between practice and theory. The case method offers an excellent way to be close to real word and real business decisions.

I’m a first-year M.B.A. student, and I already know that I’m investing my time in the best way possible--I’m growing as a professional and as a person. The UST MBA program is an intense experience where you can watch yourself improve from the first week of classes.
