Full-time UST MBA

Meet Scott Buell

"One of the most impressive features of the UST MBA program is the ability of the faculty to work with each other as a team and refer to the others' topics and subjects almost on a daily basis."

The applicable and well-integrated curriculum with the emphasis on ethics made choosing the UST MBA easy. My greatest concern with the current business world is its level of corruption and I am excited to be a part of changing this situation!

As a student, I have not been disappointed:  In almost every class period, no matter the subject, my classmates and I discuss ethical aspects of given business applications. The school has done well admitting a group of individuals that try to be the best people they can be every day. This gets transferred to all aspects of life, including school and, eventually, the business world of which we will soon be part. I know I am in a class of students above anything I have experienced before. When I graduate I am confident St. Thomas will have helped me develop my skills to be directly applicable to helping any major company – or starting my own.

I am impressed by the amount of international students in our class this year. We have strong representation from Africa, East and Southeast Asia, West Asia, India, Europe and South and Central Americas. These diverse backgrounds bring much to the table for developing each of us as global business leaders. My classmates are also well-rounded individuals – each a leader in his or her own right with abilities across the board. Everyone can excel at life in and out of the classroom. We will all help each other, moving forward in career paths, as a strong network of excellence.

One of the most impressive features of the UST MBA program is the ability of the faculty to work with each other as a team and refer to the others’ topics and subjects almost on a daily basis. Teamwork and integration are huge parts of this curriculum; seeing it demonstrated so well by our faculty is invaluable.

I have a B.A. in architecture from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Since I graduated in 2005, I have been a painter, a carpenter, a ski bum, and a site acquisition specialist in the telecommuni-cations industry. After completing my joint J.D./M.B.A. at St. Thomas, I hope to act as counsel for a corporation and eventually start my own business in some niche consulting industry – perhaps acquisitions and real estate. Success was once a question, but is now a way of life.
