Let's Go Head-to-Head!
The head-to-head GMAT competition between Full-time UST MBA assistant directors, Sandra Forsyth and Mary Lindberg, is heating up. Lindberg has launched into her studies; she reviews some of the on-line materials she's found on the web.
Last month Full-time UST MBA assistant director, Sandra Forsyth, gave an overview of her research into print materials available to use as preparation for the GMAT. Now, Mary Lindberg, UST MBA assistant director and head-to-head GMAT competitor speaks out about available online resources.
"As I began my online research, I was not disappointed with the amount of resources available online, but I was disappointed by the amount of sites advertising free resources that ended up being associated with purchasing products. Having not yet set a budget for test prep resources in this head-to-head competition, I found the following free material helpful.
"After shifting through the site, I decided to register as a member of mba.com in order to take advantage of the free GMATPrep® Test-Preparation Software offered to members only. From valuable information about the different sections of the GMAT, to review questions, practice tests, and answer explanations, I was excited to continue my studying at mba.com.
"I also found Test Prep Review's GMAT Online Course helpful for my online studying. Although I had to weed through a lot of text and advertising, I found the Self-Assessment Modules helpful in identifying my strengths and weaknesses. However, I do caution that the test results will only tell you what mistakes you have made and the correct answers for the questions - it will not tell you why or how your answer is wrong. For this reason, I was using the site only as a gauge for which areas I should concentrate more of my time studying, not as a refresher for mathematical or grammatical rules and concepts.
"After my initial research into online materials sifting through the GMAT study materials online is a time consuming project. There are a lot of good resources online to help prepare you for the GMAT, but be sure you start your research in plenty of time to find legitimate sites that offer free or reasonably priced help."
