Let's Go Head-to-Head!

The head-to-head GMAT competition between Full-time UST MBA Assistant Directors, Sandra Forsyth and Mary Lindberg, is heating up. Forsyth has launched into her studies; she reviews some of the print materials she's found here.

Full-time UST MBA Assistant Director, Sandra Forsyth has moved forward in her preparation for the upcoming GMAT exam. Forsyth is studying for the test as part of the head-to-head GMAT competition with fellow Assistant Director Mary Lindberg. Forsyth has agreed to use only print materials to assist her in her studies while Lindberg uses only on-line materials.

Forsyth waded through mountains of printed GMAT study material in search of what she describes as "the best of the best." Three resources in particular have proven most helpful.

  1. The Official Guide for GMAT Review (published by administrators of the GMAT). Prices range from $22-$40.
  2. Kaplan GMAT 800 2006-2007 Edition. Prices range from $17-$30.
  3. Cracking the GMAT 2006 Edition (published by the Princeton Review). Prices range from $8-$30.

Forsyth describes the above guides as, "excellent tools for studying for the GMAT. The study guides not only lay the foundation for the exam, but also strive to give students advice, tips, and strategies on how to score high on the exam. Between the three resources, students can use thousands of practice questions (with answers and explanations), math tactics, critical reasoning, statistical analysis, and data sufficiency problems. They may also include a CD-ROM with full-length practice tests, to study and prepare for the GMAT."

But, warned Forsyth, "Keep in mind that these recommendations are only a few of the endless resources for studying for the GMAT. Take them into consideration, but also take the time to find the best resources that match your learning styles. If you take the extra step to find the resources that works best for you, you'll be sure to succeed."
