Full-time UST MBA
The UST JD/MBA Dual Degree Program
Classes for the JD/MBA program are held on our campus in downtown Minneapolis.
UST’s joint Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration program is designed for students interested in developing their business acumen as well as understanding the legal framework in which markets operate. The JD/MBA program compresses a five-year program of study into four years by allowing some elective courses to count toward each program’s graduation requirements. Students may begin the program in the fall semester only.
Is the JD/MBA right for me?
A dual graduate degree program requires a great investment of time, energy and money. The JD/MBA program can provide an outstanding education for students with clear career goals that are relevant to both degrees. However, it is important to consider your own goals and determine whether a JD, an MBA or a dual JD/MBA program is the right choice for you.
To learn more about student life in UST's JD and MBA programs, follow our blogs, Life at UST Law and Opus Magnum.
The two articles below take an in-depth look at potential benefits and drawbacks of a dual degree and discuss the types of careers for which a JD/MBA can be an asset. Admission
Most applicants apply first to the School of Law and begin their studies there. During the first year of the JD program, applicants interested in the dual JD/MBA degree apply to the Full-time UST MBA program. If accepted into the UST MBA program, dual JD/MBA candidates will complete their second year of studies in the Opus College of Business. Please see below for a sample degree plan for students who begin their studies in the School of Law.
It is also possible to begin in the MBA program and then apply to the School of Law; please contact the Full-time UST MBA Program or the School of Law for more information about applying to the JD/MBA program.

Applicants must submit all required application materials, including LSAT and GMAT scores, to be considered for admission. Admission and scholarship decisions are made by the relevant admissions committee for each academic program. The School of Law has a rolling admissions policy and begins accepting applications in September each year for enrollment the following fall; applicants are encouraged to apply early. The Full-time MBA program has application deadlines of December 15, February 15, April 15 and June 15; dual degree applicants are encouraged to apply during the first two application rounds and by April 15 at the latest.
