2014 Learners to Leaders Summit
Saturday, February 22, 9:30 AM
The Learners to Leaders Summit is a program designed to support the continued success of talented college juniors, seniors and recent graduates of color who, based on the impact of their leadership contributions and their expressed desire to continue their education at the graduate degree level, have been nominated to become members of the Learners to Leaders community.
Hosted by the Opus College of Business, this year’s summit will include networking, a sample graduate class, a panel discussion, and an opportunity for some of the upper Midwest’s best and brightest to connect with peers, be inspired by role models and learn from the experiences of current graduate students from a variety of disciplines.
The theme of the 2014 summit is Preparing for 21st Century Leadership. Today’s and tomorrow’s leaders must be ready to manage a multicultural and multigenerational workforce affected by changes in federal and state laws, a significant change in national and local demographics, and the influence of the Internet and social media. For the 21st century leader, cross-cultural competency is no longer a differentiator, it’s a basic requirement. The faculty, staff and students of St. Thomas are delighted to have this opportunity to welcome, engage and support the success of the next generation of young leaders as we come together to explore how advanced degree programs and savvy future leaders must adapt to society’s new expectations for leadership.
