Prepare yourself for one of the oldest and purest forms of business: the challenge of identifying customer needs and taking action to fulfill those needs in the marketplace. Marketing involves digesting a complex landscape of data points to develop the marketing strategy mix, marketing plans, marketing audits and other strategic and tactical devices.
Marketing was the career path of more than 30 percent of the chief executive officers of major U.S. corporations, and recent marketing graduates hold jobs as:
- Consumer salesperson
- Sales manager
- Advertising manager
- Public relations manager
- Market research analyst
- Purchasing manager

- Inventory control manager
- International marketing manager
What You Study
The curriculum will prepare you for an exciting career in a business or nonprofit organization: creating and retaining profitable customers through activities such as marketing research, competitive analysis, determination of market potential, market segmentation and target marketing.
How We Support Your Learning
As a Senior Marketing major, you will take the capstone course Marketing Management, which includes working with clients of the Small Business Institute (SBI). The SBI connects you with a member of the Marketing faculty and a student team to consult with small businesses to diagnose their business problems, then craft and present a solution to the client.
Another opportunity is UST’s chapter of the American Marketing Association, where students socialize, listen to local marketing experts and network with marketing professionals.
