Real Estate Executive Insights Series: Downtown East Development Project

Rick Collins of Ryan Companies will discuss current development projects, including the Downtown East development project surrounding the new Vikings stadium, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the development of commercial real estate. The Downtown East mixed-use development and three-block urban park/plaza consists of 1 million square feet of office space in two, 20-story office buildings with the capacity for more than 5,000 employees; 40,000 square feet of retail space on both street level and in the skyway; and 300 residential units.

The Real Estate Executive Insights Series is presented by the Opus College of Business UST MSRE program. This series invites speakers from the real estate industry to provide valuable information and discussion about hot topics and current trends. This is a free program and is open to the public.
This program has been approved for one hour of real estate agent/broker continuing education credit through the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Rick Collins is vice president of development at Ryan Companies US, Inc. Among many accomplishments in Collins’ development career, he has participated on projects such as the Midtown Exchange, the W Hotel in the landmark Foshay Tower, Grain Belt Brew House, Two MarketPointe (LEED gold certified), and River Parkway Place along the Mississippi River in the Mills District of Minneapolis.
Prior to joining Ryan Companies, Collins was president of Welsh Companies. He served from 2005-2012 as commissioner of the City of Bloomington Port Authority. He was chair of the board of directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota from 2007-2011 as well as the chair of the board of directors for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund in 2001.
Collins is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.
