The Real Estate Executive Insights Series is presented by the Opus College of Business Master of Science Degree in Real Estate program. This series invites speakers from the real estate industry to provide valuable information and discussion about hot topics and current trends in real estate. This is a free program and is open to the public.

Lloyd Kepple will discuss current legal issues in commercial real estate.  How are distressed and foreclosed properties changing the way transactions are done today?  What do owners and investors need to be aware of in today’s market?


Presenter Biography

Mr. Lloyd Kepple
Mr. Kepple is a partner at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly, LLP in Minneapolis. He represents financial institutions and corporations in connection with their national real estate equity investment and financing activities.  Mr. Kepple practices in the areas of Joint Venutre and Partnerships, Acquisitions and Sales, Mortgage and Mezzanine Lending and Development, and Corporate Real Estate.  

His experience includes counsel to institutional investors in the placement of more than $2 billion of joint venture equity in the last five years; work with a $100 million equity participation in a major downtown office tower; $60 million joint venture to acquire portfolio of six class A office buildings in Cleveland; and a $25 million joint venture land investment in a multi—use residential/commercial development in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Mr. Kepple represented clients in a $50 million acquisition of a portfolio of five Class A buildings in Chicago, a $40 million acquisition of a 17-building industrial portfolio in Houston, a $45 million sale of office buildings in the Chicago loop and a $26 million acquisition of a retail power center in Los Angeles.  He has also worked with clients in the area of mortgage lending, including a $120 million bridge loan for a Minneapolis downtown office tower, a $140 million mortgage loan on major Chicago downtown office tower and a $45 million participating mortgage loan secured by a major medical office building.

Mr. Kepple earned a J.D. and LL.M. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota.  He has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics, is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Real Property Law Specialist.
