Real Estate Executive Insight Series: Equity/Mezzanine Finance
The Real Estate Executive Insights Series is presented by the Opus College of Business Master of Science Degree in Real Estate program. This series invites speakers from the real estate industry to provide valuable information and discussion about hot topics and current trends in real estate. This is a free program and is open to the public.
Tony Navarro will discuss how investors are using new and creative ways of financing to acquire or refinance properties. He will also examine how the changes in the real markets have impacted the process of raising equity for real estate transactions in today’s market.
Presenter Biography
Mr. Tony Navarro
Mr. Navarro has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience. He has worked in the commercial mortgage banking, commercial real estate development and commercial real estate lending businesses.
Mr. Navarro had been on both sides of many transactions. His background includes buying land for development; developing office, industrial and retail projects from the ‘ground up;’ generating short- and long-term financing as well as joint venture capital with a variety of partners; and selling the finished projects to private or institutional buyers.
Mr. Navarro has worked as a member of senior management for notable firms such as Arthur Anderson-Certified Public Accountants, Northland Mortgage Company (now NorthMarq), Opus Corporation, Welsh Development and Welsh Capital, GMAC Mortgage Company, LaSalle Bank and Associated Bank. He is currently managing director of StoneArch Funds, a Twin City based mezzanine debt and preferred equity commercial real estate investment fund.
He is currently a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and LAMBDA ALPHA International (honorary society of land economics). Mr. Navarro graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting and has been an instructor in Executive Education Programs at St. Thomas since 2004.
