Real Estate Executive Insight Series: Negotiation
The Real Estate Executive Insights Series is presented by the Opus College of Business Master of Science Degree in Real Estate program. This series invites speakers from the real estate industry to provide valuable information and discussion about hot topics and current trends in real estate. This is a free program and is open to the public.
Jim Hilbert will be discussing negotiation strategies as they apply to real estate transactions. He will demonstrate how principled negotiation can be an effective tool for
solving problems and promoting mutually beneficial agreements.
Presenter Biography
Mr. Jim Hilbert
Mr. Hilbert is an experienced attorney, negotiator, public speaker and instructor, combining all four disciplines in his approach to using principled negotiation as a tool for solving client problems and promoting the public interest. He has provided and developed negotiation and conflict resolution training for a wide variety of clients, including Thomson Reuters, 3M, Northwest Airlines, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Imation Corp., Schwan’s, AstraZeneca, the CCIM Institute, the United Nations, Head Start and the Municipality of Dubai.
Mr. Hilbert has personally negotiated numerous complex, high-stakes business deals as well as the resolution of several legal disputes and other conflicts. He is vice president of Professional Services for Alignor, an international negotiation firm, where he has provided training, consulting and performance support tools to Fortune 500 companies and NGOs across the world for more than 10 years. Mr. Hilbert is also founder and executive director of the Center for Negotiation and Justice at William Mitchell College of Law, where he teaches negotiation and advanced dispute resolution. He received his B.A. from Carleton College and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
