The Real Estate Executive Insights Series is presented by the Opus College of Business Master of Science Degree in Real Estate program. This series invites speakers from the real estate industry to provide valuable information and discussion about hot topics and current trends in real estate. This is a free program and is open to the public.
In this session, Dave Rasmussen will be talking about financing commercial real estate in today’s market. How have the capital markets changed? How are deals getting financed now? Dave will offer his insight into where the capital markets are now and where they are likely to go from here.

Dave Rasmussen
Mr. Rasmussen is senior vice president in Grandbridge Real Estate Capital’s Minneapolis office. Grandbridge, a full-service commercial mortgage banking firm, is a source of commercial real estate capital nationwide. Mr. Rasmussen’s duties include uncovering financing opportunities, determining his clients’ objectives, underwriting transactions, presenting transactions to the market, reviewing his clients’ options and helping his clients select the proper capital structures as well as negotiating and closing the transaction in a timely manner. His property experience includes anchored retail, freestanding retail, suburban and downtown office buildings, apartments, seniors housing, land-for-development, hospitality, office/warehouse and single-tenant properties.
Mr. Rasmussen's experience in real estate transactions includes first mortgage loans, mezzanine debt, participating debt, construction loans, bridge loans, 1031 tax exchanges, tax increment financing, acquisition and disposition of property and raising equity. His roles in real estate transactions have included mortgage banker, lender, borrower, seller, buyer, financial analyst, due diligence inspector and coordinator, and raising equity as an investment banker and investor.
Mr. Rasmussen has an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota and more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience.
