Certificate Plan & Requirements
Students seeking a shorter, more specialized course of study may earn a certificate in one of four areas of concentration. An MBC certificate may be right for you if:
- Your professional responsibilities have changed and you need new learning.
- You have a master's degree and want to add a specialization.
- You want to explore a single area in depth.
- You want to change careers within the field of communication.
- You want to try out graduate school or begin a degree slowly.
- You haven't taken the GMAT or GRE.
Certificate Plan
Certificate students complete six graduate courses which include a minimum of three courses from one of the following areas of concentration. Three other complementary courses will be chosen from the BCOM curriculum. See course descriptions.

A student selects six courses appropriate to a specific professional need. Certificate plan and rationale must be approved by the program director.
How to Transfer Your Certificate Work to a Degree
A certificate student with an MBC program GPA of 3.0 or higher may apply to transfer to the degree program at any time by providing a written request and scores from the GMAT or GRE. The file will be reviewed at the next scheduled admissions committee meeting. Courses completed in the certificate program may be applied to an MBC degree.
