Services

   Professional Coaching

UST MBA alumni benefit from direct consultations with a designated career coach  during individual appointments. Time is spent sharpening your focus and honing the skills you need for successful internship and job searches.

Alumni from our graduate business programs are welcome to schedule an appointment for advice on career options, to brush up on interviewing skills or to have a professional review your résumé or cover letter. Coaches can point you toward workshops, print materials and the latest online career enhancement resources, and are available during office hours and by appointment.

After graduation, alumni may continue to use GBCS for three months. After that, alumni are eligible for up to three appointments per year with a GBCS coach and can access St. Thomas job postings. Alumni also may take the CareerLeader online business inventory for a $25 fee.

   Career Assessments

Sow the seeds of a successful business career. Our office can match your profile of unique talents, interests and values to specific business fields.

Our primary tool is the CareerLeader® business interest inventory, which includes the Business Career Interest Inventory (BCII), the Leadership Motivation Profile and the Leadership Skills Profile.

We have the expertise to analyze the results of all three for your "Personal Highs"—your closest matches to successful individuals in 27 different business careers.

In addition, we offer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) assessment. The MBTI can help you with career planning at every stage of life, from your choice of subjects and majors in school, to choosing your first career, to advancing in your organization or changing careers later in life.

   Mock Interviews

Interviews are an integral part of any job search; UST MBA alumni have the opportunity to get a leg up on the process through mock interviews with our career coaches. If you are preparing for an interview and would like a practice run, contact career services and request a mock interview. After providing your résumé and a description of the position for which you're applying, a facsimile interview will be arranged in either panel or one-on-one format as appropriate.

After the mock interview, the career coaches will meet with you to discuss strengths, weaknesses, and potential changes to maximize your chances. If you prefer, the mock interview can be recorded on video for deeper analysis.
