“Who Stole the American Dream?”

Hedrick Smith was keynote speaker at the 21st Annual Stakeholder Dialogue on April 9, 2014 at the University of St. Thomas downtown Minneapolis campus.  Smith, Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and author of Who Stole the American Dream?, shared his insights on the issue of income inequality in the United States. Smith believes there are two Americas separated by money and power.

Responses were offered by Jennifer Ford Reedy, president of the Bush Foundation, and Robert G. Kennedy, Ph.D., professor and chair of Catholic Studies, University of St. Thomas.  Reedy pointed to several examples of initiatives that have been fueled in this new economy, while Kennedy encouraged the audience to reflect beyond wealth and income to other measures of improved lives. The dialogue was moderated by Michelle Rovang Burke, director of the Veritas Institute.

The program was co-sponsored by the Veritas Institute, the Koch Endowed Chair in Business Ethics, and the Center for Ethical Business Cultures, all based at the Opus College of Business.
