Advancing the Common Good through Positive Social Impact
Illuminate Your Mission
The Veritas Institute (formerly known as the SAIP Institute) fosters ethically and socially responsible organizational conduct by promoting, applying, adapting and continually improving the Self-Assessment and Improvement Process (SAIP).
Through its engagements with practitioners and collaborations with scholars, the institute also aids the formation of ethical, effective leaders.
The Business Ethics Assessment Method (BEAM)
The BEAM is an organizational assessment and improvement process based on ISO26000, an international standard that provides guidance on corporate ethics and social responsibility. The BEAM helps leaders perform an evidence-based ethical appraisal of their organization, one that highlights opportunities to more fully embed vital moral values within its operating policies, processes and practices.
The Catholic Identity Matrix (CIM)
The CIM is an organizational assessment and improvement process designed to help Catholic health care leaders strengthen the Catholic identity of their organizations. The CIM yields a qualitative portrait of the current state of an organization’s management system, and a quantitative appraisal of the extent to which its operating processes are shaped by six principles for Catholic health care.
- Facilitating application of assessment tools based on the SAIP method within for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
- Extending the SAIP method to new applications and enhancing the method based on lessons taken from practice.
- Working with academic partners inside and outside the University of St. Thomas to support teaching and scholarship on the institutionalization of ethical conduct within organizations.
The Veritas Institute, in partnership with the James J. Hill Reference Library, has developed eQuiz, a 21-question survey that takes about 20 minutes to complete. The eQuiz introduces executives to the concept of ethical self-assessment and offers ideas on how to build a culture that supports ethical behavior.
