ACUMEN: Your professional development resource
ACUMEN is a monthly e-communication for customers and friends of the Center for Business Excellence. Webster defines the word acumen as "keenness and depth of perception, discernment, or discrimination especially in practical matters." (Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Tenth Edition)
Roget's thesaurus marks it as synonymous with keenness, astuteness, cleverness, intelligence, wisdom, sound judgment, and insight, among others. True professional acumen can only be achieved through the constant pursuit of knowledge and skills. The Center for Business Excellence specializes in helping individuals and organizations realize this goal, hence, the name of our publication.
