About the Opus College of Business

The Benchmark of Quality for Business Education

The Opus College of Business maintains professional accreditation from the AACSB International the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

The Opus College of Business joins an elite group of institutions that have achieved business accreditation from AACSB International. Fewer than 5% worldwide have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education. The Opus College of Business is one of only six accredited business schools in Minnesota and the only private accredited business school in the state.

To achieve accreditation, an institution’s business program must undergo a meticulous internal review and evaluation process.  During this period, the school must develop and implement a mission-driven plan to satisfy 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

AACSB accreditation affirms our belief and provides tangible proof that our mission and our vision are on target. We do, indeed, educate students to be highly-principled global business leaders.

Throughout the accreditation process, the college took steps to align our curriculum and our faculty with the standards set forth by the AACSB. But we did so in a way that honored the university’s interest in combining practice and theory. While we have added more than 52 full-time faculty in the past few years, we have also helped our part-time faculty those with experience in the workplace strengthen their credentials and assure their roles as critical contributors to our ongoing focus on learning.

The process of securing accreditation does not mean the college has abandoned the principles and values upon which the university was founded. Rather, it provides us with assurance that those principles and values are critical to the continued growth of our programs, the continued vitality of the university and the continued impact of our alumni on the way business is practiced in Minnesota, the region and around the world.
